About Mouwaten and our policies

Moderation and corrections policy

A practical guide to contributing responsibly, reporting harmful content and understanding publication decisions on Mouwaten.

Last updated: November 8, 2026

Publication means content is available under the platform’s rules. It does not mean Mouwaten independently proved an allegation or endorsed a viewpoint.

Public-interest criticism, with care

Keep contributions relevant to public services and the exercise of public responsibilities. Critical opinions and unfavorable experiences can be expressed without personal abuse. Describe what happened, distinguish direct observation from inference, and make uncertainty clear. Apply the same standards regardless of the person, institution or political view involved.

Provide context and relevant evidence

A report needs at least one ready proof attachment before submission. Explain what the attachment shows, when and where the event occurred, and what remains unverified. An attachment alone does not establish that an allegation is true. Do not fabricate evidence, misrepresent an image’s context or present suspicion as a proven fact. Remove unrelated personal details before uploading.

Review before or after publication

Text is screened for safety and privacy before a report follows its category’s publication route. Automated checks assist this process; uncertain results and unavailable checks are referred to human review and remain private. Some categories allow publication after the checks; others require a separate category review. Passing screening does not bypass that review, and a visible report has not necessarily been reviewed by a person. Reporting and identity requirements depend on current participation settings and are enforced by the service.

Content that needs intervention

Threats, harassment, hateful abuse, exposure of private information, impersonation, fabricated evidence, spam and coordinated manipulation require intervention. Context matters: respectfully reporting a threat is different from making one. Infrastructure hazards, such as exposed wires or damaged roads, are legitimate report topics even when urgent, subject to other checks and category review. Please phrase allegations carefully and distinguish suspicion from established facts. Political criticism or an unfavorable rating alone is not a reason to suppress a contribution.

Protect people in text and attachments

Reports retain a private original for their author and authorized reviewers and use a separate public version that masks detected personal details. Incomplete privacy preparation keeps the report for review; evidence on reports with detected personal information or incomplete checks remains private. Screening may miss details, especially in attachments: please remove unnecessary identifiers yourself. Do not publish identity documents, private contacts or unnecessary details about children, witnesses or bystanders. Public anonymity does not conceal the account from the platform or remove identifying details from your files.

Understand moderation outcomes

Warnings, publication blocks and requests for ordinary or priority review save the submission privately for human review; they do not mean it is public or automatically ban the author. Contributors receive a reason and can reopen feedback in their report or evaluation. Authorized reviewers can allow, reject or ask for a rewrite; authorized administrators can also impose an account restriction, with a recorded decision. Approved reports still follow category rules. Held evaluation comments and their ratings are excluded from public feeds and aggregates until approval. Decisions and submitted evidence are retained for audit and reconsideration.

Flag a specific problem

Signed-in users with active accounts can flag a report using its reporting control. Choose the closest reason and explain the exact passage or attachment, the concern and any useful context. A flag is a request for review, not proof that the content breaks the rules and not a guaranteed removal. Avoid repeated or coordinated flags intended to suppress legitimate criticism.

Request a correction or reconsideration

If you authored the content, check its status and any available explanation in your account. For a disputed decision or factual correction, contact the team with the content link or identifier, the decision if known, and a concise explanation supported by relevant information. Use the existing contact below; do not send identity documents in the initial message. This page does not promise a dedicated self-service appeal flow, an automatic reversal or a fixed response time.

Limits and responsible use

Moderation can miss context or make mistakes, and publication is not a finding of legal responsibility. Report reactions and popularity do not establish truth. Use local emergency services for an immediate threat; a platform flag is not an emergency channel. These guidelines should evolve with the service, while preserving clear reasons, privacy and space for evidence-based criticism.
